"The
most immutable barrier in nature is between one man's
thoughts and another's." - William
James
Applications
Empowered
with the understanding of personality differences, the
task of training becomes more effective and rewarding.
Type knowledge allows the trainer to:
- Design
modules that accommodate different learning styles
- Provide
examples and antecdotes with which the participants can
identify
- Modify
delivery of content based on the distribution of types
- Package
and market the training to appeal to different types
- Delineate
expected outcomes as a function of personality
- Provide
specialized assistance in the training room based on preferences
- Tailor
Individual Personal Development Plans based on possible
weaknesses
- Enter
into post-training coaching alliances founded on unique
need
A
TRAINING TIP THAT REALLY WORKS!
Setting
participants up for success can mean recognizing and accommodating
differences in their learning style. To give Introverts
their needed time for reflection before answering, try saying,
"In a few minutes I'll be asking all of you for your
thoughts on..." This will allow them to be more prepared,
and participate with confidence.
