Type
and Theory Research

Applications
Research
is essential to the viability of a theory. As is true in all of
nature, that which does not continue to grow begins to die. We
need continuing type research in two directions:
- Applied--How
can we apply Psychological Type effectively?
- Theoretical--How
can we enlarge and improve the theory?

Journal of Psychological Type is the research journal
of the Association for Psychological Type. It has published over
330 studies over nineteen years on a variety of subjects relating
to Personality Type. Available in many libraries, it is included
in a membership in APT.
The
Bulletin of Psychological Type, published eight times
a year, contains numerous articles, many written by Interest Area
Coordinators in relating to the following applications of Personality
Type: careers and occupations, counseling and psychotherapy, education,
management and organizational development, theory and research,
religious and spiritual issues, and multicultural and international
issues. It also contains information on upcoming conferences,
and reviews of new books and materials about Type. The Bulletin
is another benefit of APT membership.
The
CAPT Bibliography is the most comprehensive compendium
of type research. It contains over 6,400 entries, including dissertations,
theses, journal articles, and conference presentations. It is
available on IBM compatible equipment.
The
Isabel Briggs Myers Memorial Library is maintained by CAPT and
contains many of the items in bibliography. It is open to researchers
during normal business hours.
